Endpoint Anti-Malware

Anti-malware for user laptops and desktops come in all shapes and sizes. For individuals you might be comfortable with freeware or one of the many consumer products available, for small business perhaps a smaller anti-malware point solution willl suffice.  For larger enterprises, there are the big 3 in the anti-malware space (McAfee, Symantec, and Trend Micro) that offer comprehensive endpoint anti-malware product suites.  These solutions are available as modules and can be deployed from the perimeter right down through to the endpoint.

While there is a very strong trend towards virtual desktops, this practice area deals with the physical devices used by end users.  For more information on anti-malware suites for virtual desktops please visit that practice area.

In the physical endpoint anti-malware suites you should expect to find:

- anti-virus and anti-spyware engines

- a local firewall

- a host intrusion prevention moduel

- I/O control

- endpoint DLP functionality

- disk, USB encryption

- mobile

In addition, the solution should be centrally managed, include some remediation and cleanup capabilities and most importantly in this day and age, should be powered by the cloud.
