Point DLP - Endpoint I/O Control

Controlling computer I/O (input/output) is not a new concept.  Many of the anti-malware endpoint suites should offer some I/O control as part of the package.

Restricting (or controlling) I/O can refer to limiting the users (or a computers process) ability to read or write to certain I/O devices such as:  USB port, CD/DVD Drive, floppy drive (if you still have one), or others.

The premise here is for some organizations perhaps the risk of USB's in the network is just too great so an Endpoint I/O controller could shut off the USB port so users are unable to use them.  Depending on your technology vendor there will be an array of controls available for the endpoint.
